The Report
A double cheeseburger from a counter near Union Station, ordered between trains. Two patties, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, and a house sauce. It solved a problem. It did not leave an impression.
The patties sat too long under a heat lamp and arrived dry, with little crust left. The cheese was melted but had begun to set. The bun was cold in the center. The sauce is sweet and generic, and the lettuce had gone soft. None of it is bad on its own, but none of it works together.
$15.50 is airport pricing in a train station. If you have twelve minutes and need to eat, it will do the job. We recorded it for the sake of the Registry.
