The Report
A ten-ounce dry-aged blend, gruyère, truffle aioli, arugula, and a brioche bun. It arrives on a board with a steak knife through the middle. That is usually a warning.
The beef is excellent: funky, rich, and cooked to an exact medium-rare. Everything around it gets in the way. The patty is too thick for the bun, so the first bite is mostly brioche and the last is mostly beef. Truffle aioli takes over, and the arugula wilts on contact. It eats better with a knife and fork, which says something.
$24 is a lot for a burger that does not quite work as one. If you are already there for dinner and want beef without ordering a steak, it is a reasonable call. Otherwise, it depends on the mood.
