Worth the Detour

The Report

The house burger at a waterfront bar that could have coasted on its location. It did not. Eight ounces of ground chuck, white cheddar, griddled onions, and dijon mayo on a toasted sesame bun.

The patty is coarse-ground and loosely packed, so it stays tender at medium. Seasoning is straightforward: salt, pepper, and a good sear. The onions add sweetness, and the dijon cuts through the cheese. The bun is toasted well and correctly sized, a detail many tall burgers miss. Execution was consistent across two visits, with one patty slightly overcooked on the second.

$17 is Navy Yard pricing, and fries are extra. Still, it is a full meal and an easy dinner before a game. Get a seat outside if the weather cooperates.
